I just read finished a book “Life beyond death” by Eben Alexander.
It is a true story of the author having Near Death Experience (NDE) while in coma due to a rare illness that cause his important part of his brain to stop working for 7 days, where he had a brief glimpse of afterlife before returning back to his physical body and got miraculously healed. The story was interesting because of the fact that he is a renowned academic neurosurgeon, so it kind of more convincing in that sense as he tried to explain the nature of consciousness. It is a good book if you are into spiritual books, which I am of course!
Putting that aside, the reason why I am into this kind of thing is because I have always wondered why am I here on this Earth. What do we have to do in this Earth? What do we need to fulfill?
Since young, I have always faced many obstacles and challenges that were not encountered by normal hearing people. And I always wondered resentfully: “Why am I born like this? Is there a reason why?” And of course, as I grow older, as I sought for the answers…what I believe is that there is always a reason why it happen.
One thing I believe is that we are here in this earth temporarily to experience hardships and learn from experiences in order to advance to the next spiritual level. And in order to do that, you need to have love, compassion in order to learn to forgive and forget. So, although it is hard (even for me), there are things that you always regret doing in the past and wish you could turn back the time. There are also things where you suffered due to verbal or physical abuse, etc and there is a build up of hate and resentment in you. Everybody do. It is a very negative contribution to your mind and you will never be happy. So there is no point looking back and dwell on the mistakes you make, so just take a step forward and continue on with your life. Learn from your mistakes, forgive and forget and be happy. I am trying to learn how to do that, though it isn’t easy at all.

Putting that aside…I just made a card yesterday based on my fascination for mechanical watches!
I love mechanical skeleton watches, watching the gears turn whenever you wind it up. Sadly, I couldn’t hear the ticking sounds (even with my hearing aids) as described by my sister and boyfriend which is kind of sad really because I am sure it is a beautiful sound to hear. But as I made this card, I suddenly feel myself surrounded with gears and I could really hear the ticking sounds and the turning of gears in my head as I worked on the card…well..it is not that I am hallucinating but I tend to have a very wild and vivid imagination 😉 Another reason why I love mechanical watches because it feels like they have soul of their own. You need to take care of them, and you need to wind them up every two days in order to get them working…it makes me feel like they are living things. I think people who have fascination for mechanical watches might agree with me.
And then combining both my earlier said thoughts and mechanical watches…it reminds me of a quote I heard before:
“You can’t turn back the clock, but you can wind it up again.” -Bonnie Prudden
Enough said! I am sure some of you are dying of boredom from my ramblings so here’s close up look of the card I made and I must say, I love it! (Well… I always said I love my cards every time, right?)
Card Description:
Card dimensions: 14cm x 14cm
Comes with meaningful quote “You can’t turn back the clock, but you can wind it up again.”
(Which means that no matter what you do, there is no point dwelling on your mistakes because you can’t change anything. Instead, move forward with your life and be happy.)
-Quote Stamped using VersaMagic Black Chalk ink
Blue Background is created using distress ink before being “sheared” at the sides for a rugged look. Clock and gears are paper cut using CAMEO.
Brads used for the center of the clock and the tag.
It’s public holiday tomorrow…which means more time for crafting! 🙂
Much lovess <3
