It is always a good time to spend the precious time with your family. With so many distractions from technologies and the every busy work schedules of parents, family time is always the most precious time where everyone can gather together to spend time doing activities together and share joy and laughter. So, grab the opportunity whenever you can to spend time with your loved ones and treasure those moments!
Speaking of family, Canon SG together with OMY, organized a creativity crafts workshop which comes with a family theme for families to come together and craft using Canon PIXMA Printers. Canon SG usually holds Crafts Workshops every year for families and kids, where anyone can register for the workshop for free. And I was invited by OMY on the behalf of Canon Singapore, together with my fiance, to attend the Crafts Workshop. And I was very eager to bring him because it is his very first craft workshop and also, our very first craft workshop together!

The workshop was held at Hotel Intercontinental Ballroom, and when we reached the area, it was pleasantly filled with lovely kids, parents and grandparents lining up to register before collecting their goodie bags. Light refreshments were served as we waited for everything to be ready and I saw some familiar faces, which is the other Canon PIXMA Craft gurus aka mummy bloggers together with their own families!
Once we got seated at our table, I was met with two other families at our table. It was a pleasure to strike a conversation with a mother who brought along two of her kids accompanied by her husband and she commented that attending the crafts workshop with her kids is a first for her and she was also looking forward to spending the time doing activities with her kids together. Crafts materials were already placed on the table and the friendly hosts, Jeremy and Joanne Marie Sim, instructed us to print out own photos using the mobile app “Canon PIXMA Printing Solutions” where you can print your own photos straight from your smart phone after connecting your phone to the printer!
Three glossy photo papers were provided (in the goodie bag) where we used it to print our photos using the Canon PIXMA Printer 6400 series before we get started with the craft session:
And then we started crafting once everyone was ready with their printed photos.
The FUN has begun!
It was sooo exciting because I get to craft with everyone and it was really a wonderful time to interact with the parents and children. You will be surprised by the endless creativity from the children! I will tell you more in the later post!
The first craft project was to make a photo frame with a hanging ribbon, where we have to make do with the things in our goodie bag as well as on the table.
I am always fascinated with children because they always show endless creativity and ideas which really simply amazed me. As we were looking for things to decorate our frame, a very sweet little girl sitting beside my fiance, was watching us as we were discussing what to put and she will pipe into our conversation, giving us suggestions and we just followed her suggestion which turned out to be really good!
Our photo did not turn out well in terms of the ratio proportion to the frame, so there was some white spaces in the frame. This made us put on our thinking cap and we decided to decorate the white spaces with the shiny embellishments, with some help from the girl as well. Because of our long discussion, most of the materials(foam letters and other decorative items were used up) so we altered some of the letters to make it into what we want! We also digged out some stickers from our goodie bag as well, decorating it together with ribbon, felt and button.
We had a short break with light refreshments of carrot cakes and siew mai (My absolute favorites!) before proceeding on to the next craft project. The second craft project was to make a standing family photo (using toothpick provided) on the “grass” foam and put it together with other participants’ creations!
Coming to the end of the crafting session, I was really glad to be part of this campaign where I meet new people and bloggers who also share the love for crafting and to observe the happiness and excitement expressed on the children’s faces as well as the satisfaction displayed on parents’ faces after they finished the craft projects with their children. I clearly enjoyed doing crafting with my partner, and he enjoyed himself too!

In a brief summary where pictures spoke a thousand words:
Participants including families, children, hosts and even canon staffs were all deeply involved throughout in the crafting sessions where the staffs will help out in the printing of the photos using Canon PIXMA printer and mobile app (Canon PIXMA Printing Solutions), distributing out materials needed as well as helping out in the crafting sessions. A great interaction with the parents and children at my table and finally, a group photo of children showing their framed photos proudly as well as their creations on the “map”! And not to mention my partner-in-crafting where we enjoyed the time crafting together, and thinking of ideas of how to decorate our frame.
And of course, not to mention the hosts (Jeremy and Joanne Marie Sim), the Canon Staffs and OMY.sg for making the workshop so happening and vibrant which brought smiles and laughter to everyone’s faces, and to Canon and OMY for organizing the workshop to allow families to bond by crafting together.
This brought to the end of my post where I would like to share a short quote:
“Love your family. Spend time, be kind & serve one another. Make no room for regrets. Tomorrow is not promised & today is short.”
