This is a pretty late post!
Two months back, my good friend, Jasmine, approached me to do an illustration of her beautiful sister and her husband who got married two months back. Initially I was not very confident because I hardly draw male figure but she was pretty confident in my own skills so I thought ‘hey, I guess I can try that and see how it goes!‘.
Jasmine provided me a photo of their wedding portrait to sketch their gown and suit, but the pose was a little too rigid for our liking. So we agreed on another pose and it was challenging trying to imagine the pose without any reference and sketch them out. I even had to get my husband to pose for me too! I was quite anxious when I started on the male figure of the husband on paper, but eventually after a few revisions, I manage to get it perfectly done to Jasmine’ satisfaction!
Okay, so here it goes!
I drew them on paper and inked them using sumi ink before using watercolor and copic sketch markers to color them. As I love adding glitters to my paintings, I suggested to Jasmine that I will add glitters to make the illustration looks livelier and more ‘pop’. She certainly loves the idea!
I printed them on semi-gloss paper to add a nice gloss but not too glossy, framed it up using IKEA frame chosen by Jasmine herself when I recommended some frames for her to choose from.
Pictures do no justice. As much as I tried, I was not able to capture the beautiful glitters added to the bride’s gown, groom’s shirt as well as the flower border and frame. I also added glossy accent on butterflies to make it look much more 3D.
Thank you Jasmine for sharing this photo as I love seeing bright smiles from people who receive my works!
Wishing the couple an everlasting marital bliss!
