It has been a while since I last did Mojo Monday Challenge. This week, they have put out the layout which I really like!
And my card for the challenge:
It is the first time I am trying out this kind of style. Mixed media has been quite a hype lately, and I decided to give a go and I absolutely love the process even though I need a bit of planning. Since it is my first time creating this kind of style, it took me few hours to get it done. Prior to that, many planning and sketching of how I want my card to look like!
I created the blue and white background using Photoshop CS and printed out using Canon PIXMA printer before embossing it with brick-like texture. The green side involved using green distress ink and Heidi Swapp Color shine (Sea foam and white). The bad thing about photos is that you can’t see the exact details but I can tell you that I just love the spray mists. It makes my card look all shimmery. The butterfly which was cut out using CAMEO, was sprayed using coral Heisi Swapp Color Shine and it is stunning with all the shimmery effect!
Paper sheared to create the torn look and “Hello” stamp (PLAID) was stamped using distress ink before layering onto the paper dolly and the paper which was embossed using plaid texture distressed using distress inks. I love the prima mulberry flowers, top up with pearl.
Definitely love this look!
Thanks for watching this space! <3

so very interesting – like your combination of distressed elements!
Thank you 🙂
Hello 🙂 Great Job.
Hello! Thanks for dropping by 🙂 Thank you 🙂
Esther, for your first foray into making a mixed media card, this looks beautiful! The elements are beautifully layered and I love the distressing you did on the paper. The wonderful thing about mixed media is that the more you do it, the more it will come naturally that you won’t need to plan so much what to put anymore (nor will it take long to create one). It’s as much fun as making an art journal page, but because it’s a card, someone else will be enjoying your art! Thanks so much for responding to The Mixed Media Card Challenge DT call — good luck!
Thank you Shery 🙂 All the best for your new creative journey too as from what I read, it will be your starting journey of the mixedmediacard challenge blog journey.
Love this card, Esther! You have used the sketch is a beautiful way and I think you are a natural for mixed media techniques. Good luck!
Beautiful mixed media card! Best wishes for the DT!
