The 7th Singapore Blog Awards was held last Saturday at *SCAPE, which was graced by Guest of Honour, Ms Sim Ann, Minister of State, Ministry of Communications and information, and Ministry of Education. And I have got to say that it is a blast 🙂 I wasn’t feeling well that day so I didn’t have the mood to mingle around but I must say that the atmosphere is defintely quite lively to begin with and most people came in dressed according to the Derby fashion theme! There were also photo booths to spice things up!

The winners were announced, and a big congratulation to all winners! I just started blogging actively only this year (after a long hibernation of 5 to 6 years) with a brand new blog so I am relatively new to the omy blogging social circle. All of them are unfamiliar faces to me, but I have read some of their blogs which contain interesting contents so they deserved the award. Le Bf and I didn’t stay long to mingle around to congrats other bloggers because we had to rush off for our next event.
Frankly, I did not expect to win anything and I was already quite surprised that I was among the top ten finalists in the Lifestyle Category because my blog was considered quite new and it talk mostly about arts which I personally feel that it cater to quite small audience. So I am already thankful for being one of the top 10 finalists! I am also thankful for my boyfriend who has been supportive of my artworks and how he encourage me to start blogging to share my works. <3

Non-bloggers always thought blogging is easy. Just write what you think and put pictures…done. But I bet to differ. Blogging takes time and effort and it was not easy trying to maintain it. You have to take photos and make sure that it is at the good angle or not blurry, which you have to go back home and do some additional photo enhancements. So friends started to ask…why blog then? When I first started, I blogged for pleasure because I love to write and I used to write stories when I was in my teens. I was a very shy introvert in the past because of my own self-consciousness as I am hearing-impaired which make me speak real funny sometimes that makes some people teased me about me having a short tongue. This can be pretty depressing to hear especially when you just hit puberty, right?
So writing help me to express how I feel according to my mood without having people to judge how I speak and I guess that’s how I started out blogging from there. And now, with my new blog…new beginning, my main purpose for blogging is to share my love for arts and food, so it matters a lot more to me when readers emailed or commented to me how my posts or my art works give them inspirations and motivation. 🙂
