I am back for the second time as guest designer for Gloria’s challenge blog “Craft Hoarders Anonymous” , and the theme was Challenge #18 Layer it. And you guess it….this is my absolute favorite challenge of all times! Those who have been following my blog, you should know that I am a big crazed fan of layering. Layers of embellishments, layers of die cuts, you name it!
So, I have tools and leftover scraps and embellishments and I hoard them for this project!
For this challenge, I made a wedding card for a special friend who got married recently. I couldn’t make it for her wedding since I was overseas at that time, so I designed this card specially for her to congrats her marriage!
I was inspired by these colours after looking through pictures of interior home designs in one of my favorite interior design websites:
Here’s my take for the challenge:
I love how much things have been added to this card to give this overall look. First, I used Kraisercraft (Fairytale) pattern paper as the outer layer for the card before layering acrylic paper over it. I have pre-primed the acrylic paper with gesso before spraying with Heidi Swapp Color Shine Mist (Teal) at mainly one side of the paper. Stencil (Stencil Girl) was used together with Heidi Swapp Color Shine Mist (Gold) to create a branch-like background.
Next, I used gesso as my texture paste (my own DIY texture paste got dried up and I didn’t have the time to re-make one) which works as fine for this project. I used Sweet Poppy Stencil to create the tree and branches texture before using Tattered Angel clear stamps to create some random stamping on some parts of the card using Silk Green Chalk ink (colorbox) and Jet black Chalk ink (VersaMagic). So many layers using inks, embossing, paper layering…and yet…I am still going to layer some more using embellishments!
Now is the fun part!
I add on guaze, and then positioned my vintage clay frame which I made it myself using mold. I added a bit of black ink to the edges of the frame to create a slightly “dirty” look, giving a shabby chic appearance. I layered Prima flowers, combining lovely colours together to bring out the brighter look for the card before adding the paper butterfly which was punched using shape punch. I included some scribbles image onto the butterfly using Tattered Angel stamp (Screen Print) before adding Sticklers (Baby Blue) for some glitter. The bird was from Maya Road which I added JoAnn Craft Essentials fine glitter to it to give the bird some glitter before adding rhinestone for its eye. And I layered the bird over the frame.
I also added the wood embellishment (Prima Marketing Inc) which I distressed the edge of the wood using black chalk ink to further create the shabby chic look. I am so loving the embellishment! I always have a thing for wood and chipboard embellishments.
That’s about it! Thanks for dropping by! <3
