I thought I should try Marco Marco, an Italian cafe which serves cross-ethnic variations of dishes, after hearing from a colleague that the pasta is good. Looking at the menu, the dishes were named after different countries which I find it quite interesting so I entered the cafe with anticipation. They also serve pizza and light snacks as well, but since I am a pasta lover, I decided to try their pasta on my first visit.
The interior of the cafe gave a nice ambiance, which is a perfect place for a date or casual meet up/gathering. My friend and I made our orders at the counters after minutes of thinking and being fickle-minded because there were so many countries to choose from!
My friend choose “The Singapore” which is the laksa version of pasta:
Linguine, Prawn, Dry Beancurd, Straw Mushroom, Ginger Flower, Laksa Leaves, Laksa Cream Sauce
The verdict: We both didn’t like the dish at all. It tasted really bland and I don’t feel that there is anything to wow about. The mushrooms tasted very weird in which I couldn’t describe in words.
My friend’s rating: 3/5
I ordered “The Florence” :
Penne, Salmon, Sun Dried Tomato, Harissa Cream Sause
The verdict: As compared to The Singapore, this dish tasted much better, but it will be great if they add more salmon meat and less dried tomato. The cream sauce tasted great as well, but I would prefer that they add more sauce because the dish tasted a little bland initially.
My rating: 3.5/5

I wasn’t very impressed with their pasta dishes since I have taste better dishes from elsewhere. But one good thing is that if you do not like the look of the menu, you can actually create your own meal! Perhaps I should try that the next time I visit 🙂
