I am always an explosion box enthusiast. Making them is my pride, and it takes a lot of work and detailings to put the whole thing together. Putting busy schedule aside, I want to share another explosion box creation which was made for a client. The request was to make it a disney-themed: Beauty and the Beast. It took quite a while to brainstorm before I decided on the final masterpiece. This was made months ago, as a christmas gift, hence, it was a perfect theme to go.
Remember the snow scene in the movie?
If you have been following my Instagram and Facebook, I did post a work in progress of Beauty and the Beast:
I cut the figures out and painted them in blue and added gold glitter and gold acrylic before putting glossy accents over it. It gave a great shimmery look!
The exterior of the box:
Decorated the exterior of the box with snow themed patterned paper, adding a touch of glitter, christmas bells embellishment, snowflakes and rhinestones.
So when you untie the ribbon and open the box:
You are greeted with a lovely snow scene of the forest. I decided to replace the wolf with deer instead. Adding the gazebo was also another idea as I assumed Beauty and the Beast were happily married and they need a gazebo for romantic dates, isn’t it? Just one of my imagination when I was brainstorming the design.
In the movie, the most iconic item is the hand-held mirror. So of course, there was an addition of the mirror in this creation! The teapot, mirror and corner border embellishments were initially in dull bronze metal color. I added the finishing touch of acrylic gold paint from Golden Acrylics, which gave a brilliant shade of gold. I also add a bit of glossy accent from Ranger to the mirror to give a slight glossy look.
Remember the falling petals of a rose in a jar that Bella was forbidden to touch? Here, I added rose shaker, with red “petals” and crystals lying around.
Another pocket with the recipent’s name, to put mini photos as keepsakes. Put the photos in and kept it close by tying the gold string through the rose embellishment.
The overview:
That’s about it!
Now, I am busy brainstorming other explosion boxes and hopefully, I can get to share them here. Stay tuned!
